Opt back in to text messages (Patient App)

Learn how to resume RepeatMD text messages after opting out, using a reply to an existing thread or the RepeatMD SMS short code.

Overview

Patients can opt out of RepeatMD text messages at any time by replying STOP to a message. If you opted out, or stopped receiving texts for another reason, you can opt back in to receive appointment reminders, promotional offers, and other messages from your practice again.

This article is for patients using the Patient App. Practice staff can share these steps when a patient reports missing text messages.

Before You Start

  • Opt-out is triggered by replying STOP to a RepeatMD text. Messages include Reply STOP to Opt-Out.

  • Opting back in requires either replying START to an existing RepeatMD text thread or texting START to the RepeatMD short code.

  • Some delivery issues are not caused by opt-out: carrier filtering, spam settings, or technical problems may also block messages.

  • For other account settings, see Manage account settings (Patient App).

Why It Matters

Text messages keep you connected to your practice’s offers, appointment updates, and rewards. When you opt back in, you can:

  • Receive promotional and transactional texts your practice sends through RepeatMD.

  • Fix accidental opt-outs after replying STOP.

  • Restore messaging quickly without contacting support in most cases.

How It Works

How opt-out works. Reply STOP to any RepeatMD text to unsubscribe. RepeatMD sends a confirmation that you will no longer receive messages at that number.

How opt-in works. You have two ways to opt back in:

  1. Reply START to an existing RepeatMD promotional text thread on your phone.

  2. Text START to the RepeatMD SMS short code: +1 833-895-0773.

After successful reactivation, text messages to your phone number should resume automatically.

Other delivery issues. If you did not opt out but still do not receive texts, check your device’s spam or blocked-message settings. Persistent issues may require RepeatMD Support.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Reply START to an existing RepeatMD text thread

  1. Open your phone’s Messages app.

  2. Find an existing text thread from your practice or RepeatMD.

  3. Reply with the word start (case insensitive).

  4. Wait for a confirmation that you have been re-subscribed.

  5. Future RepeatMD texts should resume at your phone number.

Text START to the RepeatMD short code

  1. Open your phone’s Messages app.

  2. Start a new message to +1 833-895-0773.

  3. Type START and send.

  4. Wait for a confirmation that you have been re-subscribed.

  5. Future RepeatMD texts should resume at your phone number.

Best Practices and Pro Tips

  • Try the existing thread first if you still have a recent RepeatMD text on your phone.

  • Use the short code if you deleted old message threads or no longer have a RepeatMD conversation visible.

  • Check spam filters on your device if START does not restore messages within a reasonable time.

  • Confirm you are using the correct phone number tied to your Patient App account.

  • Contact support for persistent issues: some carrier or filtering problems require investigation.

Common Mistakes and FAQs

A: Yes. Reply START to the same thread or text START to +1 833-895-0773.

Q: How long until messages resume after I opt back in?

A: Messages should resume automatically after a successful START. Allow a short time for carrier processing.

Q: I never opted out but I am not getting texts. What should I do?

A: Check spam or blocked-sender settings on your device. If the issue persists, email support@repeatmd.com with your phone number and practice name.

A: No. Opt-out affects text messaging only. See Delete your account (Patient App) if you want to remove your account entirely.
