Use membership discount on an in-app purchase (Patient App)

Learn how enrolled members see membership pricing applied automatically when they shop in the Patient App, including how it interacts with other discounts at checkout.

Overview

Enrolled members receive exclusive membership pricing on eligible treatments, packages, and products in the Patient App. When a member adds items to cart, the app calculates the member price automatically so patients see their savings before checkout.

This article is for practice owners, managers, and front-desk staff who explain membership value at purchase time and troubleshoot cases where a member expected a discount that did not appear.

Before You Start

  • The patient must be actively enrolled in a membership that includes pricing benefits on the items in cart.

  • Membership pricing applies to eligible items only, as configured on the membership in the Admin Panel.

  • Membership discounts apply automatically when no other eligible offer is selected. Patients do not enter a promo code for standard membership pricing.

  • Only one discount or promotional offer can apply per transaction. Discounts cannot be stacked.

  • If the patient is not enrolled, the app shows member vs. retail pricing on many product pages so they can compare before joining.

Why It Matters

Automatic membership pricing is one of the strongest reasons patients stay enrolled. When your team understands how it works at checkout, you can:

  • Reinforce membership ROI by pointing patients to side-by-side pricing before they buy.

  • Reduce checkout confusion when a reward or promotion takes priority over membership pricing.

  • Resolve cart issues faster by checking enrollment status and eligible items first.

  • Avoid double-discount expectations by explaining the one-discount-per-order rule.

How It Works

Automatic application: When an enrolled member has services, memberships, or products in their cart, membership pricing updates automatically. No manual step is required.

Member vs. retail display: Non-members often see two prices on shoppable items: what they would pay as a member versus a one-time retail purchase. Members see their price reflected in cart and at checkout.

Interaction with other discounts: If the patient has earned a reward or qualifies for a live promotion on items in cart, the app may present multiple discount options. The patient chooses one offer before checkout. Promotions show expected savings so patients can pick the best value.

Membership pricing vs. monetary credits: When membership pricing is applied, certain monetary credits (such as some reward types) may be excluded. The patient chooses between membership pricing and the alternative at checkout.

Confirmation pop-up: If multiple promotions are live and the patient selects an offer that saves less than another eligible option, a pop-up asks them to confirm their choice.

Tax and fees: Sales tax and any configured service fees appear as separate line items at checkout (labeled Tax and Service fee).

Step-by-Step Instructions

See membership pricing before enrolling

  1. Open the Patient App and browse treatments, packages, or products.

  2. On eligible items, review the member price shown alongside retail pricing.

  3. To enroll, add the membership to cart from the membership page or during checkout.

Shop with membership pricing applied

  1. Log in to the Patient App as an enrolled member.

  2. Browse or search for an eligible treatment, package, or product.

  3. Tap the item to review description, imagery, and member pricing.

  4. Tap Add to cart.

  5. Open the cart and confirm membership pricing is reflected on eligible line items.

    • If other offers are available, review listed options and select the discount to apply.

    • If no other offers apply, membership pricing should already be active.

  6. Tap Check out now.

  7. Review Tax and Service fee and the total.

  8. Select a payment method (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Affirm where enabled).

  9. Tap Place order and confirm on the review screen.

When membership pricing does not appear

  1. Confirm the patient is actively enrolled in a membership that includes pricing on the item.

  2. Confirm the item is in the cart and is on the membership’s eligible list.

  3. Check whether another discount is already selected. Remove or change the selected offer if membership pricing should take priority.

  4. Confirm the patient has not already used a one-time promotion tied to the same purchase.

If pricing still looks wrong, contact the practice or RepeatMD Support with the patient’s account email and a screenshot of the cart.

Best Practices and Pro Tips

  • Lead with membership savings when patients browse high-ticket treatments. Point them to member vs. retail pricing on the product page.

  • Explain one discount per order before checkout when patients have both a reward and membership pricing.

  • Use the cart comparison when multiple promotions are live so patients pick the highest savings.

  • Add membership and treatment together when a non-member is buying a single service. The app supports adding a membership to cart alongside a treatment or package.

  • Train staff on eligibility. If an item is excluded from membership pricing, the Admin Panel membership configuration is the source of truth.

Common Mistakes and FAQs

Q: Do patients need to enter a code for membership pricing?

A: No. Membership pricing applies automatically for enrolled members when no other eligible offer is selected.

Q: Can membership pricing stack with a reward or promotion?

A: No. Only one discount or promotional offer applies per transaction.

Q: Why does my patient see retail pricing in cart?

A: Common causes: the patient is not enrolled, the item is not eligible for membership pricing, or another discount is already selected. Verify enrollment and membership eligibility in the Admin Panel.

Q: What if the patient has multiple discounts available?

A: The cart lists eligible options with expected savings. The patient selects one before checkout.

Q: Does membership pricing apply to memberships purchased in the same order?

Q: Where can patients see member vs. retail pricing before joining?
