Why is my post not showing up in the community group?

If you posted in our Facebook group but can't see your post - this could explain why!

Updated this week

Why hasn’t my post been approved in the community group?

We completely understand how frustrating it can be when you take the time to write a post in our re:sleep community group, only for it to disappear or never appear on the feed at all. You’re probably wondering: Where has my post gone?

Don’t worry - you're not alone in this, and you likely haven’t done anything wrong. There are a few common reasons why posts don’t show up in the group, and we're here to walk you through them.

1. Your Facebook profile is new or recently created

If you’ve just made a Facebook account - especially if it was created specifically to join the group - your first post might be held back by Facebook itself, not us. This can also occur if your Facebook page has just a few friends connected, only a few or no previous posts, or if this is your first time posting in a private Facebook group.

This is due to Facebook’s own internal safety policies, which are designed to reduce spam and protect groups from fake accounts. In many private groups (like ours), Facebook will automatically flag a first post from a brand-new account for manual approval by a group moderator - even if the group hasn’t turned this setting on.

This doesn’t mean you’ve done anything wrong, it’s just Facebook being cautious. Once you’re past this first-post checkpoint, future posts should go through more smoothly.

Our small team of moderators works through pending posts regularly, but it may take a couple of days for your post to be reviewed and approved. Thank you for your patience while we keep the group safe and supportive for everyone.

2. Your post may have gone against our group guidelines

Sometimes posts don’t appear because they go against the community rules we have in place to keep the group respectful, helpful, and free from misinformation.

Here are a few examples of posts that may be removed or held back:

  • Posts that promote or attempt to sell a product or service

  • Posts offering detailed or prescriptive advice for others to follow (even with good intentions)

  • Posts that may be harmful, offensive, or distressing to others

  • Questions that are best directed to our customer support or care team - in these cases, we’ll reach out to guide you to the right place

We know everyone here is trying to help and support each other - these rules are just in place to make sure the group stays safe and constructive for everyone.

3. You may have deleted the post without realising

If you didn’t see your post go live and tried to repost it, there’s a chance the original was still pending and got deleted in the process. Or you may have accidentally removed it while trying to edit. These things happen!

4. A technical issue or glitch

Every so often, a post may not upload correctly - especially if it contains a video, image, or attachment that didn’t go through. If you suspect this happened, try reposting with a simpler version, check your internet connection, or reach out to us to check.

5. The post included certain flagged links or words

Facebook uses its own filters to scan for spam, misinformation, or potentially harmful content. If your post included:

  • An external link (especially to a less common or commercial website)

  • Keywords that Facebook has flagged as sensitive or spammy

  • Medical claims or treatment advice

…it might have been blocked automatically by Facebook’s system before it even reached our moderation team. Again, this isn’t something you did wrong - it’s just part of Facebook’s broader content moderation.

💬 Still unsure?

If it’s been a few days and your post still hasn’t appeared, or you’d like to understand more about what happened, feel free to reach out to our support team via the Help Centre on our website. We’re happy to help and can check on it for you.

Thanks so much for being part of the re:sleep community. We’re really glad you’re here, and we appreciate your patience while we keep our space safe, welcoming, and supportive for all members.
