Top tips as you get started!
Take It One Lesson at a Time: It’s natural to want to race through the lessons to get rid of your sleep problem as quickly as possible. But remember, our goal here isn’t to finish the program as fast as we can, it’s to get rid of your sleep problem for good. It’s better to take the time to do it right the first time and allow yourself to take it at your own pace!
Let Us Worry About Your Sleep: There is so much information out there regarding how to “fix a sleep problem”, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. We are here to filter out only the most influential and important information, so don’t worry about anything we haven’t taught you yet on the program. Until we ask you to make changes, just stick with what you’re doing at the moment and we will cover key behavioural and cognitive changes in due course.
Set Realistic Expectations: The road to better sleep is not linear, so it’s important that we don’t look at your progress night by night, but instead with a wider lens. Improvements can also come in many forms along the journey, such as lessened anxiety, less hypersensitivity, better quality sleep etc. and is not solely the amount of time you are sleeping for. Try to celebrate the wins wherever you can and remind yourself that changes in your sleep night by night are not a good indicator of progress. Now that you’re on the program, it’s our job to worry about your sleep, not yours!
