When can you change the request type?

You can update the request type in the following stages:

  • Request Submitted

  • Request Incoming

  • Pending for Approval

⚠️ After these stages, the request type can no longer be changed.

Step 1: Open the request

Go to the request inside the Returbo admin panel.

Step 2: Click “Change Request Type”

In the request view, open the tab:

  • Change Request Type

Step 3: Select the new request type

Choose the new type:

  • Return

  • Exchange

  • Complaint

Step 4: Select the product(s)

  • Choose which product(s) should be moved to the new request type

💡 You can:

  • Change all products in the request, or

  • Change only specific products

Example:
If a request includes a dress and a cardigan, you can:

  • Change both items, or

  • Change only one of them

Step 5: Add required details

Depending on the new request type:

If Exchange:

  • Select the new product/variant

If Complaint:

  • Add images

  • Add a comment (if needed)

If Return:

  • Select a return reason

Step 6: Save the changes

Once completed:

  • Confirm the change

  • The request will be updated automatically

What happens after you change the request type?

  • The request is updated inside Returbo

  • The status is adjusted based on the new request type

Important:

  • No new email is sent to the customer, you will only see the changes inside the admin panel.

Limitations

  • This feature is available on all pricing plans

  • No restrictions apply

Important Notes (reduces support tickets)

  • You can only change the request type in early stages not after the return is Resolved.

  • You can update one or multiple products in the same request

  • Always double-check product selection before saving

  • Make sure required fields are filled (especially for exchanges and complaints)
