You can start a job in the Road Ninja app once you've been approved by the hiring company. The way you start the job depends on when it’s scheduled to begin.

This guide walks you through each scenario step-by-step.

Starting a Job Happening Today (Live Jobs)

Jobs starting within 24 hours, or jobs happening on the same day, will move to your 'Live jobs' page. For jobs scheduled to happen today, follow these steps to begin your work:

  1. From the app's main screen, tap on 'Live job'.

  2. Find the correct job and tap on 'View'.

  3. Tap the 'Start job', button, this starts the job timer.

  4. Tap the 'Run pre-departure check' button.

  5. Once all items are checked, tap 'Complete'.

  6. Finally, tap 'Send report'. This sends the pre-departure check report directly to the hiring company.

The job is now in progress, and the job timer is running.

You can view the active job on the 'Live job' page and use the chat feature to communicate with the company.

Starting a Job that Began on a Past Date

If you accept a multi-day or a single day job after it has already started (for example, accepting on November 7th for a job that started on November 6th), the first day (November 6th) is automatically placed in the ‘Completed jobs’ section.

For a job that is in the past, you do NOT complete a pre-departure check nor do you start the job timer. Instead, you log the hours worked for that past day:

To access your past jobs:

  • Navigate to the ‘My jobs’ page.

  • Click on the filing icon located in the upper right corner.

  • Click on ‘Log hours’ for the specific past job date.

  • Update the job start and end time.

  • Select whether you will charge the company for the actual time you worked (for example, charging for 7 hours if the job took 7 hours, even if it was booked for 6 hours). Any additional hours are charged based on your hourly rate. This selection is for jobs paid at an hourly rate, not Fixed Price Offers (FPO).

  • Alternatively, you can choose to charge the company only for the booked time (for example, the 5 hours the company initially booked).

  • Upload a photo of your logbook.

  • Click on ‘Submit’ to share the details with the hiring company.
