Your data stays private by design
Roots keeps everyone's data completely private and separate on their own devices. There isn't currently a way to connect accounts or see another person's Roots time and usage data.
This is intentional - since Roots uses Apple's Screen Time API, all your personal usage data stays securely on your individual device. Each person maintains their own private account with separate data, blocks, and progress tracking.
Ways to stay connected and accountable
While you can't directly view others' Roots data, many users find success staying accountable with friends or family by:
Checking in with each other about daily goals
Taking part in "Challenges" together
Celebrating "Streaks" together
Using the "Give a 30-Day Guest Pass" feature (in Profile) to share Roots with others
Family premium access
If you're looking to get Roots Premium for family members, we offer family premium access where:
Each family member creates their own individual Roots account
You send us their email addresses
We manually add Premium access to all their accounts (covered under your annual subscription at no extra cost)
Everyone gets their own personalized experience with separate data, blocks, and progress tracking
How to set it up:
Have your family members create their own Roots accounts
Send us the email addresses they used to sign up
Include your own Roots-associated email address (the one linked to your premium subscription)
We'll add premium access for them on our end
To find your Roots-associated email ID:
Open the Roots app
Go to "Profile" (bottom tab)
Tap "Account Settings" (at the top of the screen)
Tap on your name
Tap "Account Details"
You'll see your "Email" listed there
As long as you're on an annual subscription, they'll be covered too!
