Does Nomad Insurance Essential cover flight, hotel, or booking cancellations?
Nomad Insurance Essential does not include coverage for the reimbursement of existing flights, hotels, or other bookings.
What benefits am I eligible for if my flight is cancelled or delayed?
Nomad Insurance Essential includes a benefit for unplanned overnight stays caused by travel delays.
Benefit amount and duration
The benefit provides USD 100 per day for food and accommodation expenses
Coverage is limited to a maximum of 2 days
The maximum total benefit is USD 200
Minimum delay requirement
You may be eligible for this benefit if:
Your travel delay is 12 hours or longer, and
The delay requires an overnight stay
How the delay is calculated
The delay is calculated by comparing the original scheduled arrival time on your itinerary with your actual arrival time
An overnight stay is considered to have occurred if the calendar date changes
If your initial delay was less than 12 hours but caused you to miss a connection, and your final arrival time is 12 hours or more later than scheduled, you may still be eligible
Eligible reasons for the delay
To qualify for this benefit, the delay must be caused by one of the reasons listed below. No other reasons are covered.
Delay or cancellation of scheduled transportation
Your scheduled transportation by airplane, bus, train, or boat was:
Delayed by at least 12 hours, or
Cancelled with no replacement
You must have a valid ticket
The transportation must be operated by a company with scheduled routes and ticketed passengers
Taxis and privately rented vehicles are not covered, even if delayed by 12 hours or more
Traffic accident en route to the departure airport
You were involved in a traffic accident while traveling to the departure airport
A police report is required as proof
Extraordinary events preventing access to the terminal
An organized labor strike
Hijacking
Quarantine
These events must have directly prevented you from reaching the terminal
Theft of travel documents
Your passport or other required travel documents were stolen
A police report is required as proof
