Does Nomad Insurance Essential cover flight, hotel, or booking cancellations?
Nomad Insurance Essential does not include coverage for the reimbursement of existing flights, hotels, or other bookings.
What benefits am I eligible for if my flight is cancelled or delayed?
Nomad Insurance Essential includes a benefit for delayed transportation.
Benefit amount and duration
For a delay of 3 to 8 hours, the benefit provides USD 60 for food and accommodation expenses
For a delay of 8 hours or more, the benefit provides USD 150, plus an additional USD 150 per night after the initial 8 hours
The maximum total benefit is USD 450 per trip, and USD 900 per active insurance period
Minimum delay requirement
You may be eligible for this benefit if your travel delay is 3 hours or longer.
How the delay is calculated
The delay is calculated by comparing the original scheduled departure time with the actual departure time
If your initial delay was less than 3 hours but caused you to miss a connection, and your final arrival time is 3 hours or more later than scheduled, you may still be eligible
Eligible reasons for the delay
To qualify for this benefit, the delay must be caused by one of the reasons listed below. No other reasons are covered.
Delay or cancellation of scheduled transportation
Your scheduled transportation by airplane, bus, train, or boat was:
Delayed by at least 3 hours, or
Cancelled with no replacement
You must have a valid ticket
The transportation must be operated by a company with scheduled routes and ticketed passengers
Taxis and privately rented vehicles are not covered, even if delayed by 3 hours or more
Traffic accident en route to the place of departure
You were involved in a traffic accident while traveling to the place of departure
The accident caused you to miss the original departure, and your transportation was rebooked for at least 3 hours later
A police report is required as proof
Please note: For delays departing from your home country, only the shorter delay amount (USD 60) is covered.

What benefits am I eligible for if my accommodation is cancelled or inaccessible?
Nomad Insurance Essential includes a benefit for inaccessible or cancelled accommodation.
If your pre-booked accommodation is inaccessible or cancelled by the vendor, you are covered for alternative accommodation and transportation to get there.
Benefit amount
The benefit provides up to USD 150 per night
The maximum total benefit is USD 300 per active insurance period
Conditions
The accommodation was cancelled by the vendor or was inaccessible (e.g., the self check-in doesn't work or the host doesn't show)
You were made aware of the inaccessibility or cancellation at the point of check-in or within 12 hours before your check-in
You were made aware of the inaccessibility or cancellation after you purchased your insurance plan
Required documentation
Proof of original booking and payment (confirmation email, receipts)
Confirmation of the cancellation or inaccessibility from the vendor
Receipts for alternative accommodation and transportation
