Information about No Claims Discount

What is No Claims Discount ( NCD )

Updated over a month ago

No Claim Discount (NCD) is earned by the policyholder on each individual vehicle that is insured under a policy. One years' NCD is earned for each year you hold a policy without making a fault claim, in accordance with our current NCD scale.

Your NCD will be valid for two years after the end of your last policy, provided it is not being used on another policy.

No Claim Discount earned abroad may be acceptable, depending on your underwriter's acceptance criteria. Proof must be written in English and the NCD level shown in years.

If you have had the sole personal use of a company car (e.g. have had a car reserved for your own use both for work and for pleasure purposes) but have lost it due to retirement, change in position or due to changes in taxation laws, you will be allowed NCD in accordance with the number of claim free years immediately before the start date of your motor insurance policy. If this affects you, please talk to one of our service specialists who will assist you with this.

If you are eligible, Protected No Claim Discount cover is included as standard on our Saga Plus and Select cover levels. To be eligible you must have four or more years' NCD, even if you have had a fault claim in the last three years. Your No Claim Discount will only be reduced if you have more than two 'fault' claims in three consecutive years of insurance.

Protected No Claim Discount cover can be included on our Saga Standard cover level, for an additional premium.

If you have recently cancelled a policy with us, we will automatically send proof of your NCD for you to share with your new insurer.
