Setting up your distributors

This article explains how to request credentials and set up distributor feeds in Salesbuildr

Updated over a week ago

Overview

Salesbuildr allows you to connect with multiple distributors to automatically retrieve pricing and availability information for your products. This guide explains how to set up distributor connections, configure selection rules, and manage distributor priorities to optimize your procurement process.

Getting Started with Distributors

Obtaining Distributor Credentials

Before adding distributors to Salesbuildr, you'll need to obtain access credentials:

  1. Most distributors require you to complete an application process to request pricing and availability access

  2. After approval, the distributor will provide you with FTP credentials (typically a username and password)

  3. These credentials will be used to configure your connection in Salesbuildr

The approval process varies by distributor and may take several business days to complete.

Adding Distributor Connections

To connect a distributor to your Salesbuildr account:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Admin > Distributors > Connections

  2. Locate and select the distributor you want to add from the list

  3. Enter the credentials provided by your distributor (typically username and password)

  4. Click Save to establish the connection

  5. Salesbuildr will validate your credentials and activate the connection

Once connected, Salesbuildr will begin importing pricing and availability information from the distributor.

Configuring Distributor Selection Rules

Salesbuildr can automatically select the optimal distributor for each product based on your preferences. To configure these rules:

  1. Navigate to Settings > Admin > Distributors > Priority

  2. Drag distributors to the Preferred distributors section in your desired order of preference

  3. The order determines which distributor Salesbuildr will select first when multiple options are available

These rules will apply to products that have:

  • A valid manufacturer part number set

  • No explicitly configured cost price

Advanced Distributor Settings

You can fine-tune how Salesbuildr selects distributors by configuring additional rules:

Stock-Based Rules

  • Only consider incoming stock/ATP if it's within X days: Set Salesbuildr to include incoming stock that will arrive within a specified timeframe

  • Only consider distributors that have been updated within the last X days: Exclude distributors whose data hasn't been refreshed recently

Pricing Rules

  • If price from other distributor is % lower, select that distributor: Choose a non-preferred distributor when the price difference exceeds your specified threshold

Troubleshooting Distributor Connections

If you encounter issues with your distributor connections:

  • Verify your credentials are entered correctly

  • Check if your distributor access is still active

  • Confirm your internet connection allows FTP access

  • Review any error messages in the connection status

For persistent issues, please contact Salesbuildr support with details about the specific distributor and any error messages you're seeing.
