How to add a conversion point

Set up a conversion point in your Website Analysis, so you can see which audiences and channels actually drive conversions on your site.

Written by Samhub

A conversion point lets you track when visitors complete a specific action on your website, like making a purchase or submitting a form. Once you've set one up, you can see which audiences complete that action and which channels they come from, so you can compare how different audiences convert, and see how audiences and channels perform in a bigger picture.

1. Open the conversion point filter.

Once you're in your Website Analysis, click "Any conversion point" among your filters to open the dropdown.

2. Add a new conversion point

Click "+ Add conversion point" to start creating one.

3. Name it and add a condition

Give your conversion point a name, then click "Add condition." The most common way to set up a conversion point is with a URL parameter, matched against the page URL. You'll choose a condition, most often either "Equals" (an exact match) or "Contains" (a broader match, useful if you have similar values across multiple page URLs).

A few more specific conditions are also available, like "Starts with," "Ends with," and "Is present," for cases where you need more control. Just like with traffic sources, you can use AND if every condition needs to match, or OR if any one of them is enough, and you can add more than one condition if needed.

4. Add a conversion value, if you want to track one

Under "Data point," choose "Conversion value," then choose how you want to get that value: from a URL parameter, from a global JS variable, or as a fixed static value if the conversion always has the same value.

For example, if every purchase on this page is worth a fixed amount, you could set the conversion value as a static value.

Click "Create" to finish setting up your conversion point.
