Before your Showit website can go live, you'll need to connect your domain using your DNS records.
Don't worry if that sounds technical! This is typically a one-time setup and once it's complete, you shouldn't need to update your DNS records again unless you move your website or domain.
What are DNS records?
Think of your domain as your website's address and your DNS records as the directions that tell visitors where to find it. When someone types your domain into their browser, your DNS records point them to your Showit website.
Where do I find my DNS records?
Your DNS records are managed by the company where your domain is registered.
Some common domain providers include:
GoDaddy
Squarespace Domains
Namecheap
Cloudflare
Google Domains (now managed through Squarespace)
If you're not sure where your domain is registered, check where you purchased your domain or log in to your domain provider's account.
Once you're logged in, look for a section called:
DNS
DNS Management
DNS Settings
Zone Editor
Advanced DNS
This is where you'll update your DNS records.
Connecting Your Domain to Showit
When you're ready to connect your website, Showit will provide the DNS records you'll need to add to your domain provider. Simply copy the records provided by Showit and paste them into your DNS settings.
Once the records have been added, it can take anywhere from a few minutes to 48 hours for the changes to fully propagate across the internet.
