How to Use Alignment Tools in Showit

Written by Sam

In this guide, we'll walk through the different alignment tools available and when to use them.

Smart Guides

As you move an element around your page, you'll notice colored pink/purple guide lines appear. These are called Smart Guides and they're designed to help you line up elements with other items on your page.

You'll see guides appear when an element is:

  • Aligned with another element

  • Centered on the page

  • Evenly spaced from nearby elements

These guides are a great way to quickly position elements without having to manually measure anything.

Aligning Multiple Elements

If you've selected more than one element, you'll see additional alignment options in the right side panel.

These tools allow you to quickly line elements up so they're all aligned to the:

  • Left

  • Center

  • Right

  • Top

  • Middle

  • Bottom

This is especially helpful when working with buttons, icons, or groups of images/elements.

Distribute Spacing

If your elements feel unevenly spaced, you can use the Distribute tools.

Instead of moving each element one by one, Showit can automatically create equal spacing between multiple selected elements.

This is a great option for:

  • Icon rows

  • Feature sections

  • Stacked text boxes

  • Buttons

Grouping Elements

If you have elements that should always stay together, you can group them.

For example, you might group:

  • An icon and its heading

  • A button and the text above it

  • A photo with a decorative element

Once grouped, you can move everything together instead of repositioning each piece individually.
