Do I need to live in Florida or Texas for at least 183 days per year to be considered a resident?

Written by Bo

You do not need to spend 183 days in your domicile state.

This applies whether your domicile state is Florida or Texas.

However, if you spend more than 183 days in any state other than your domicile state, you almost certainly can't be considered a resident of your domicile state (as you are spending the majority of your time in another state).

Florida: You do not need to spend 183 days in Florida, but spending more than 183 days in another state will undermine your Florida residency.

Texas: You do not need to spend 183 days in Texas, but spending more than 183 days in another state will undermine your Texas residency.
