Florida generally requires a person registering to vote to be a U.S. citizen, a Florida resident, and at least 18 years old to vote, together with the other eligibility requirements established by Florida law. Florida’s official voter-registration information is available through the Florida Division of Elections.
If you are eligible to register in Florida, you generally have several options:
• Online: You can register or update your registration through Florida’s official online voter-registration system, RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov.
• In person: Registration is available through a county Supervisor of Elections office and certain other designated government offices, including offices that issue Florida driver licenses or identification cards.
• By mail: You can complete and submit Florida’s statewide voter-registration application.
Florida’s registration deadline is generally 29 days before an election.
What address should I use?
Your mailing address and your legal residence address for voter-registration purposes may be different. The address that is appropriate for voter registration depends on your individual circumstances and Florida election law.

Getting a Florida driver license, registering a vehicle, filing a declaration of domicile, receiving mail at an address, or using an address for banking or other purposes does not by itself determine voter-registration eligibility. Voter registration is governed separately by Florida election law.
Florida expressly requires truthful information on a voter-registration application, and its official guidance states that submitting false information can carry criminal penalties.
What if I am a military or overseas voter?
Eligible military members, their qualifying family members, and U.S. citizens residing outside the United States may be able to use the Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) to register and/or request a vote-by-mail ballot.
Eligibility to use the FPCA and the appropriate voting residence are separate questions that depend on the voter’s circumstances. If you are considering an FPCA, review the Federal Voting Assistance Program guidance and confirm your voting residence with the applicable elections office before submitting it. Florida also provides specific guidance for military and overseas voters.
