You might wonder what the difference is between Scratch Card and Scratch Item. The key difference lies in what’s being scratched. Scratch Card typically uses a full background image or card, while Scratch Item is usually used for individual elements like products—making the setup simpler and more focused.
You also have the option to select 'Clip image' in 'Scratch Item', which makes the prize more visually aligned with the actual card image (see more on this further down in the guide).
What a Scratch Card campaign can be used for
How it works: users interact with a digital scratch card by “scratching” the surface to reveal whether they’ve won a prize or received a message. The action is simple, tactile, and satisfying.
Use cases:
🛍️ Retail & E-commerce
Let users scratch to reveal discounts, product giveaways, or mystery offers.
🏥 Healthcare & Wellness
Scratch to uncover wellness tips, motivational messages, or small rewards.
🎓 Education & EdTech
Let students scratch to reveal quiz answers, rewards, or extra credit opportunities.
🍔 Food & Beverage
Scratch to win free items, coupons, or loyalty points.
🎉 Events & Entertainment
Reveal instant-win prizes, ticket upgrades, or merch → great for pre-event hype or on-site activations.
To set up the 'Scratch Card' campaign, open the campaign and select the game. From there, you can add your design and configure the settings.
We recommend starting with an existing design kit, then adding your prizes and customizing the visual layout of the game.
In 'Settings', you can define the number of cards that need to be scratched to reveal the image, product, or message underneath. You can choose up to 9 cards in total and also set how many cards should appear per row.
We recommend setting up all the available prizes to ensure they appear correctly. When choosing the icons underneath the surface, you can adjust the quantity by adding or removing icons here.
You can also change the image of the 'coin' used to scratch the surface. This can be your logo, a product, or any other element that matches your branding.
You also have the ability to customize individual cards by clicking into them. Here, you can adjust the size settings.
To define how the icon underneath should appear, go to the 'Icon' section.
From there, you can replace the card image with a product, picture, or anything that fits your campaign's visual style.
Important: Make sure to upload both the card image and the background for everything to display correctly.
Next, adjust the sizing of the icon under the surface. Toggle the 'Show' button to preview the icon, then position and resize it so it fits within the card image and background correctly.
For example, it should look like this:
You can also add a shadow to the coin or object to enhance its visual appearance.
Additionally, remember to set the percentage that users need to scratch in order to reveal the surface underneath.
If you set it to 100%, keep in mind that some users might abandon the campaign—especially if the image is large—since they’ll have to scratch off every part of it. Consider this when deciding on the percentage.
