Tracking IDs vs. Channels
Use tracking IDs for account-level tracking and integration with external tools like Facebook or Google Analytics. Use channels to measure traffic from platforms like Facebook or Instagram without external systems.
Cookie Pop-Up and Consent
A cookie pop-up is required because Facebook, Google Analytics, and our system set cookies. Two cookies are always needed—one internal and one external—and both require user consent for tracking.
Embedding Campaigns
When embedding campaigns, tracking IDs are not automatically added; your site must manage them. Events are triggered via your scripts, not ours. Without cookies, tracking events won’t trigger, complying with GDPR.
Supported Platforms and Script Types
Supported platforms include Google Analytics, Facebook/Instagram (Meta), Snapchat, and TikTok. The normal script supports full tracking and features and is recommended. The iframe script only embeds content and limits tracking.
Identifying Script or Iframe Use
Check the campaign overview under “demo, preview, published URL.” “Embed live URL” indicates the normal script is used.
Tracking Links and IDs
Direct linking with appended tracking IDs works as expected. Tracking IDs are found in platform accounts (Google Analytics, Meta Events Manager). Facebook tracking also applies to Instagram.
Verifying Tracking
Verify tracking via Facebook’s Events Manager, Google Analytics, or browser plugins like Meta Pixel Helper and GA Debugger. Google Tag Manager’s preview mode shows real-time event firing.
Purpose of Tracking IDs and Channels
Tracking IDs connect your site data to external analytics. Channels are internal tags for traffic sources, tracked inside our system. Channels can be combined with UTM parameters. The channel parameter must be in the URL.
Custom URLs for Campaigns
Custom URLs can be requested but require admin approval. No automatic notification is sent; customer service must approve. After approval, customers provide DNS details to IT. Once verified, the custom URL replaces the standard URL.
Reusing Subdomains and Timing for Custom URLs
Subdomains can be reused across campaigns by adding different slugs. Custom URLs should be set up at the start of major campaigns. Users can edit custom URLs only if the campaign runs directly on the platform.
Admin Control Over URLs
Admins can view and approve all suggested URLs.
Webhooks for Real-Time Data
Webhooks send real-time event data to external URLs on triggers, providing a simpler alternative to full integrations.
Customer Responsibility for Verification
Our system handles setup and sending of data, but customers must verify data and integrations work correctly.
Favicons and Product Add-Ons
A favicon is a small icon displayed in the browser tab next to the page title. The Product add-on allows uploading product feeds to show dynamic recommendations.
Security Add-Ons
Security features include rate limiting to prevent spam, disallow lists to block emails or domains, and planned regional blocking. IP and geographic blocking are not yet active.
Blocking Specific Emails or Domains
You can block specific addresses or domains using the disallow list.
Importance of Rate Limiting
Rate limiting prevents abuse such as multiple submissions from one user.
Script vs. Iframe for MetaPixel and IDs
The script embed supports MetaPixel/IDs integration and tracking events. The iframe does not, limiting tracking capabilities.
