Why is the Mews Rate Being Copied When I Create an Event Temple Group?

Answer:

When you create an Event Temple Group and sync it to Mews, the Mews Rate is duplicated during the process. This duplication occurs when an Availability block is created, ensuring that the original Rate remains unaffected while providing the flexibility to adjust the price on the duplicated Rate.

Specifically, when a group block is created in MEWS with a specific rate code, MEWS creates a copy of this rate code at the moment the availability block is established. This copied rate ensures pricing stability for the group. As a result, any updates made to the original rate code in MEWS will not apply to the already created group blocks.

Additional Information:

The duplication happens on Mews' end and cannot be turned off. More information on using Group Sync can be found here:

  • Managing Global Accounts & Contacts in Event Temple Even manual syncs or rate fetches in Event Temple pull data from the copied block rate, not the updated rate in MEWS.

Suggested Approach:

To ensure the correct rates are applied for future group blocks, verify and update your rate codes in MEWS before creating new availability blocks. Currently, changes to rate codes in MEWS after a group block is created will not affect the copied rates.
