Sharesies offers investments across the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX), New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX), New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Nasdaq, Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), and US over-the-counter (OTC). We’re unable to add companies or exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to Sharesies outside of the exchanges we offer.
NZ companies and ETFs
Sharesies offers nearly all investments on the NZX Main Board. In rare cases where the company has special ownership requirements of the investment, or the investment is extremely illiquid, it might not be available through Sharesies.
For example: Livestock Improvement Corporation Limited (LIC) requires an investor to be a dairy farmer in their co-op. This company isn’t available on Sharesies.
NZ managed funds
Sharesies provides access to a range of NZ managed funds. If there’s an NZ managed fund you’d like to see on the platform, let us know! Adding new managed funds requires a bit of planning, and we may not be able to add every one, but we’re always keen to hear your suggestions. Get in touch with the team at help@sharesies.co.nz.
US companies and ETFs
Sharesies contracts DriveWealth, a US-regulated broker dealer, to arrange execution, clearing, and settlement of buy and sell orders placed on US exchanges on our behalf. For DriveWealth to consider adding a company, generally it needs to meet all of the following criteria:
the company is listed on one of the US exchanges available through Sharesies and may have recently undergone (or is about to undergo) an initial public offering (IPO).
the company has a market capitalisation of at least $300 million USD
the company’s trading price is at a minimum of $5 USD price per share.
Australian companies and ETFs
Generally, Sharesies can look to add most companies and funds listed on the ASX, though it might not always be possible to add every one. Message the team at help@sharesies.co.nz with your request! 🍍
