You can get live market information for investments on the main US exchanges (New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), Nasdaq, Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE)) if you’ve opted-in to the $15 pricing plan.
The market information includes:
live share prices—updated every five seconds when the market is open or if you’re opted in to extended hours
top bid—see the highest price investors are currently willing to pay per share
top offer—see the lowest price investors are currently willing to sell at per share.
This info may help you get a sense of how the market currently views an investment’s value. The price you buy or sell at may be different to the price you see.
If the market is closed, and live pricing isn’t available, you’ll see this at the top of the page for that investment.
Price notifications are sent using price data that’s delayed by at least 20 minutes, not live pricing.
We source the live pricing data from CBOE, which is updated every five seconds when the market is open or if you’re opted in to extended hours.
In the US, shares may be traded on many exchanges, not just where the shares are listed. Because prices are moving all the time, particularly in markets as large as the US, the price your order is placed at may differ from the live price shown (e.g. for a market order).
