At Sherpa, we understand that students may request predicted GCSE or A-Level grades from their tutors.

To ensure accuracy, fairness, and consistency, we have set out the following requirements:

1. Qualified Teacher Requirement

  • Only tutors who are qualified UK teachers are permitted to provide predicted grades.

2. Minimum Lessons Requirement

  • A student must have had at least five lessons with the tutor before a predicted grade can be issued. This ensures the tutor has had sufficient time to assess the student’s ability and progress.

3. Mock Assessment Requirement

  • The tutor must ask the student to sit a mock exam paper in the relevant subject.

  • The tutor must then mark this paper and use it, alongside lesson performance, to inform the predicted grade.

  • Tutors will charge their standard hourly rate for the time taken to mark and provide feedback on the mock exam.

4. Professional Judgement

  • Predicted grades must be given based on evidence and professional judgement, independent of requests or parental pressure.

  • Tutors should clearly explain the reasoning behind the grade and, where helpful, suggest strategies for improvement.

5. Safeguarding & Communication

  • All discussions and sharing of predicted grades must take place on the Sherpa platform to ensure transparency and safeguarding.

By following this policy, we aim to provide students with realistic and fair grade predictions while supporting their ongoing academic development.
