How to use the Abandoned Checkout tab?

Learn how to view, investigate, edit carts, apply discounts, place COD orders, and add customers to segments — all from the Abandoned Checkout tab in Shopflo.

Written by Swapnil Sangal

Every time a customer starts checkout but doesn't complete it, Shopflo logs it as an abandoned checkout. The Abandoned Checkout tab gives your support team a full operational view — who dropped off, where they stopped, what was in their cart, and the tools to convert them without leaving the dashboard.

The List View

Each row shows:

  • Placed on — when the checkout was initiated

  • Customer — name captured at checkout

  • Phone Number — contact number used

  • Dropped off from — the stage where they stopped: Address Page, Payment Page, or Payment method selected

  • StatusRecovered (order was eventually placed) or Not recovered

  • Order Value — cart value at the time of abandonment

Understanding an Abandoned Checkout

Click any row to open the detail panel. This gives you a complete picture before you act.

Abandoned Order — the products in the cart, applied discount codes, loyalty points, shipping, and the grand total. A shareable checkout URL is also available to copy and send directly to the customer.

Drop-off Stage — a visual timeline showing exactly how far the customer got: Address submitted → Landed payment page → Payment method selected. This tells you whether the drop-off was a friction issue (address stage) or payment hesitation (payment stage).

Customer Info — name, phone, email, billing and shipping address.

Attribution — landing page, referrer, customer type (NEW or OLD), and the full Shopflo checkout URL.

Editing the Cart

Click Edit Order in the top right of the detail panel to open the cart editor. From here you can:

  • Change quantity — update the quantity of any item. The original quantity is shown in orange so you always know what the customer had.

  • Remove an item — click the delete icon to remove a product from the cart entirely.

  • Add a product — type a product name or click Browse to see your full catalogue with available inventory and prices. Select the variant you want to add.

The panel on the right updates in real time as you make changes. Click Save when done.

Adding a Discount

Click Add Discount at the bottom of the detail panel. A search panel appears showing only the discount codes that are applicable to this cart — so you never apply a coupon the customer isn't eligible for.

Once selected, the panel shows how much the shopper will save (e.g. "Shopper will save ₹135"). You can apply multiple combinable discounts or remove one using the delete icon.

Placing a COD Order

Once you've made edits and applied the right discount, click Place COD order. A confirmation screen shows the final customer details, cart, and payment breakdown with all discounts applied. Click Place Order to confirm — the order is placed on the customer's behalf and appears in your Orders tab.

Adding Customers to a Segment

You can add abandoned checkout customers to a Shopflo segment directly from the list — to target them with discounts, automations, or re-marketing campaigns.

Step 1: Select one or more rows using the checkboxes. A "X Selected" bar appears at the bottom.

Step 2: Click Add to Segment.

Step 3: Search for an existing segment or type a new name to create one. Add a description if needed.

Step 4: Click Save. Customers are added immediately and available for any downstream workflow.
