Appliance breakdowns can be costly and disruptive, but with AIG’s two-year extended warranty, you get protection beyond the manufacturer’s warranty to cover unexpected failures.

This guide breaks down what’s covered, how it works, and how it compares to the standard GE manufacturer warranty.

How AIG’s extended warranty complements GE’s manufacturer warranty

All GE appliances come with a one-year limited manufacturer warranty from the original purchase date.

During this one-year period, GE covers:

  • Replacement of any part that fails due to defects in materials or workmanship

  • Labor and related service costs for replacing defective parts

Once the manufacturer warranty expires after one year, coverage ends—meaning you’re responsible for any repair costs. This is where AIG’s extended warranty takes over.

AIG provides two additional years of protection after GE’s warranty ends. This means:

  • Continued coverage for mechanical and electrical failures

  • Protection from out-of-pocket repair costs

  • Reimbursement of up to $200 for food spoilage if a covered refrigerator or freezer fails

By extending protection beyond year one, AIG helps reduce unexpected repair costs and ensures your appliances remain covered longer.

For full details on GE’s manufacturer warranty, refer to the appliance’s use and care manual.

What’s covered by AIG’s extended warranty?

AIG’s extended warranty automatically begins when the manufacturer’s coverage expires, providing:

  • Protection against mechanical and electrical failures – Covers necessary repairs or full replacement if an appliance fails due to defects in materials or workmanship

  • Food spoilage reimbursement – Covers up to $200 for food loss caused by a covered refrigerator or freezer failure

This ensures seamless protection beyond the manufacturer’s one-year warranty, helping you avoid unexpected expenses.

How it works

  • Automatically applied when purchasing

    • When you add AIG’s extended warranty, coverage starts the day GE’s warranty expires—no additional setup required.

  • Hassle-free repairs & replacements

    • If your appliance experiences mechanical or electrical failure, AIG will arrange repairs or provide a replacement based on warranty terms.

  • Food spoilage reimbursement

    • For covered refrigerator and freezer failures, AIG will reimburse up to $200 for food loss. Simply file a claim with proof of loss.

  • Claims process (Coming soon to Sibi)

    • Soon, claims can be filed and tracked directly in Sibi. Until then, claims can be submitted through AIG’s support team.
