Can I edit a transaction after sending?

Information on modifying sent transactions and available alternatives.

Updated this week

Once a transaction has been sent through our system, it is not possible to edit its contents, recipients, or settings. This design ensures the integrity and auditability of the signing process.

What to do if a mistake was made:

If you have sent a transaction and realize there is an error (e.g., incorrect document, wrong recipient email, or incorrect settings), your primary option is to cancel the transaction.

  • How to Cancel: You can find detailed instructions on how to cancel a transaction in our FAQ article: "How to cancel a transaction?". Cancelling the transaction will stop the signing process for all recipients.

  • After Cancelling: Once the transaction is cancelled, you can then create a new, corrected transaction with the necessary changes and send it out again.

Alternative for Transactions with correct settings and 'Pending' Status:

Does the recipient not receive the invitation email? And are all signer data and transaction settings correct? If your transaction is still in "status 10: Pending", you have an additional option to consider:

  • Manually Share the Signing Link: For transactions in this status, you can manually retrieve and share the unique signing link with the intended recipient. This can be useful if there are issues with email delivery. You can find instructions on how to do this in our FAQ article: How do I resend the signing link?.

In summary, direct editing of a sent transaction is not supported. Please utilize the cancellation feature for corrections or, if the transaction is still pending, consider manually sharing the signing link.
