How do I add 2FA to my account?

Updated over 10 months ago

Adding two-factor authentication increases the security of your Signhost account. This is achieved through the use of a two-factor authentication app.

How do I set up two-factor authentication?

Navigate to Signhost.com and choose Login in the top-right corner of your screen.

After logging in to our web portal choose Two-factor authentication in the top right of your screen:

Tip! Open the web portal on your smartphone to easily download the authenticator app.

Scan the provided QR-code with your authenticator app in order to set up two-factor authentication. If scanning the QR-code does not work, you can manually input the provided code in the authenticator app.

Enter the verification code generated by the authenticator app in the web portal and select the Configure authenticator app button.

After completing the set up process you will be taken to the page below:

On this page you can find your personal recovery codes. Store these codes in a safe place! You need these codes when you're unable to login with your authentication app.

Logging in with two-factor authentication

Once two-factor authentication is enabled, you will be asked to use two-factor authentication when logging in to our web portal. When entering the authentication code you can choose to Remember this device. As a result, you will not be asked to use two-factor authentication when logging in as long as browser cookies have not been deleted in the meantime. After 14 days you will automatically be asked to use two factor authentication again.

Disabling two-factor authentication

When you return to the Two-factor authentication page in our web portal you can choose to disable two-factor authentication. Previously configured authenticator apps will remain functional to allow you to use the same app when re-enabling two-factor authentication.

Resetting recovery codes

If you used up or accidentally removed all of your recovery codes you can reset your recovery codes on the Two-factor authentication page.

Setting up / resetting additional authenticator apps

You can use multiple authenticator apps. They can be set up on the Two-factor authentication page.

You can also reset all authenticator apps here. You will then no longer be able to login using the authentication codes from previously configured authenticator apps. Deleting these codes from the authenticator app needs to happen in the app itself.

Portal admin rights

On the User management page in the web portal you can view what users have enabled two-factor authentication. As portal admin you can disable for other users.

It is (currently) not possible to enable two-factor authentication for other users.

Our support team is happy to assist you via chat or via support@signhost.com
