For many data elements in the Simpology LADM data model, the data is not the ideal format for populating onto Documents, for easy reading.

A 'cover' data element is where the Simpology team have 're-set' the native data outputs so that they are better for populating onto Documents.

An example of a 'cover' variation of a data element is a DATE field. You will see with many DATE fields, there is a 'cover' version along with the native version:

You will find that if you map the native version, you get:

And if you map the Cover version, you get:

Another example is where the native data will be True/False. In this instance, the 'cover' version of the data element will give you Yes/No.

In summary, under most circumstances, if there is a 'Cover' version of a data element, you will want to select that version when mapping onto your Document.

Note that not all data elements that would benefit from this treatment have been 'covered'. If the native data output is not suitable for your Document, you have the option to manage what is populated onto the page via Field Properties or Insert Special Field functionality.
