SKAND iOS Application User Manual

Updated this week

This manual provides step-by-step instructions for importing videos from Insta360 cameras to SKAND using the SKAND iOS application.

Note: The application is currently in beta. If you don't have access, please reach out to us for assistance.

Prerequisites

  • SKAND iOS app installed

  • SKAND account credentials

  • Insta360 camera

  • Stable Wi-Fi connection

  • Sufficient device storage

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Launch and Login

Open the SKAND iOS app and log in using your SKAND account credentials.

  2. Project Setup

Select an existing project or create a new one.

    Create a capture session

    • The capture session will encapsulate all videos for the site.

    • All captures from the session will be processed together to create a single output.

  3. Connect Insta360 Camera

Connect your Insta360 camera to your phone via Wi-Fi.

If this is your first time connecting the camera:

    • Tap "How to connect"

    • Follow the step-by-step instructions

  4. Camera Configuration

The app will automatically configure your camera with optimal settings:

    • Mode: Time-lapse with 0.5-second interval

    • Resolution Options:

      • 8K – 30 fps

      • 5.7K – 30 fps

Note: In most cases, no manual setup is required. If the camera doesn't switch modes automatically, manually set it to time-lapse mode and choose the appropriate resolution based on the supported devices table.

  5. Recording and Transfer

5.1. Record your video using the Insta360 camera.

5.2. Locate the video in the Capture List (videos are not automatically transferred to your phone)

5.3. Transfer the video - Click the Transfer button, ensuring your Insta360 device remains connected during export; since exporting may take time, it’s recommended to do this after your recording session, and once the export is complete, you can disconnect the device.

    Export Best Practices

For more stable exporting, follow these recommendations:

    • Keep the app open: Don't turn off the screen or switch to another app.

    • Maintain stable connection: Avoid Wi-Fi interruptions between phone and camera

    • Charge your devices: Keep both phone and camera plugged in during export.

    • Free up storage: Ensure sufficient free space on your phone.

  6. Upload to SKAND

Switch to high-speed Wi‑Fi before uploading for a smooth transfer, then upload captures from the capture list.

    Note:

    • If you still see the transfer button instead of upload button, complete the transfer first.

    • The upload button will appear once transfer is complete

  7. Processing

After all videos are uploaded, the app will ask if you want to start processing. If there are some videos in your Pending list you don’t want delete them to be able to start processing.

Storage Requirements

Estimated Storage for 5.7K and 8K Timelapse

Important: An additional 2GB is reserved for the OS and should be considered separately.
