SMS Legal Settings

Introduction

Got questions? View the FAQ’s section at the bottom of this article!

SMS legal settings are a high-priority area for new offices. For SKED to send messages to your patients, your office must submit tax information so that SKED can comply with SMS Compliance regulations.

Edit Tax Information

Enter your Office Name, Location, and Business ID for tax purposes. Use the ā€œAuto-fill with office addressā€ button to use the same address entered on the ā€œAdmin Settingsā€ page.

  • Note: If your office has ā€œLocationsā€ enabled, the information is pulled from the 1st office included on the ā€œLocationsā€ page.

  • Warning: For Canadian offices, use your Provincial Corporation Certificate Number in the EIN field. (EIN is for the USA only)

Save Tax Information

Finally, after making all your changes, click the blue ā€œSaveā€ button to lock it down. If you inserted the correct information, SKED should be able to send SMS messages on behalf of your office!

FAQ’s

Why does SKED need this information?

To comply with the regulations regarding A2P (application to person) messaging, SKED builds the office a ā€œbrandā€ to prove it is a legitimate business. This helps lessen spam and fraudulent activity.

My office is in Canada, and I don’t have an EIN. What should I put there?

Canadian offices must enter their "Provincial Corporation Certificate" number in that field.

Will my legal name show to my patients?

No, this is only for messaging compliance purposes. Patients will see the office name in the top left corner when placeholders such as ā€œOffice Nameā€ are used.

I’m selling my practice. What information needs to be updated?

It depends on how the office is getting sold. If the legal name or EIN needs to be changed, it can be updated by going to Settings > SMS Legal Settings and updating it there.

Our office is moving. Where do I update my address?

The address needs to be updated in two places: the Organization/Admin Settings page and the SMS Legal Settings page. Both of these pages can be found by clicking the Settings button.
