Cluster Booking

What is Cluster Booking?

Cluster Booking helps guide patients toward appointment times that are already grouped near other appointments, reducing gaps and keeping the provider's schedule more efficient.

Instead of showing all available times at once, the SKED app shows the most efficient options first. Patients can still tap Show more options to see additional availability, and can keep expanding (a total of two times) until all available times are shown.

Setting up Cluster Booking

When scheduling or rescheduling, patients first choose a general time of day — Morning or Afternoon. The app then shows the best available options first based on Cluster Booking and current availability. If nothing works, they tap Show more options to keep expanding the list.

Where to update Cluster Booking

Cluster Booking is managed at Settings > Provider Schedule. Each schedule card has its own Cluster Booking setting at the bottom, so the office can configure each schedule independently.

On

Guides patients toward clustered times for the entire schedule. Good for schedules where the office consistently wants grouped appointment times.

Off

Patients see available times without being guided toward clustered options.

Custom

Turns Cluster Booking on only during specific hours.

After selecting Custom, use Set hours to choose which days and time ranges should apply.

Custom is useful when the office wants to guide patients during certain parts of the day — for example, encouraging later morning bookings or earlier afternoon bookings — without applying Cluster Booking to the whole schedule.

Cluster Booking and Color-Coded Appointment Slots

When Cluster Booking is enabled, Show Color-Coded Appointment Slots (formally busyness colors) is automatically turned off because the two settings work against each other. The office can turn it back on globally, or enable it for specific patients from the client page — useful for patients who need quieter times, more flexibility, or additional support when choosing an appointment.

For more information, see the article about Color-Coded Appointment Slots.

Availability

Cluster Booking is available for offices with Standard or higher plans.
