A complete guide to when deposited funds become available for withdrawal.
Deposited funds pass two separate milestones: first they clear for trading, then they become available for withdrawal. These happen at different times, which is why you can often trade with a deposit before you can withdraw it.
⚠️ Hold periods run from the clearing date, not the date you initiated the transfer. Because ACH takes 1 to 3 business days to clear, the total wait from initiation is roughly 6 to 8 calendar days. Trading gains are never subject to a withdrawal hold.
Two milestones: clearing for trading vs. clearing for withdrawal
A deposit becomes usable in two stages. Confusing the two is the most common reason a withdrawal is unexpectedly held:
Milestone | What it means | Timeline from deposit initiation |
Clears for trading | Funds appear in your account balance and can be used to open positions. | ACH: 1–3 business days. Debit card: same day to next business day. Wire: same day if received before the cutoff. |
Available for withdrawal | The hold period has expired and the deposited principal can be withdrawn. | ACH/debit: 5 calendar days from the clearing date (ACH withdrawal) or 10 calendar days (wire withdrawal). Wire deposit: immediately after clearing. |
Slay Markets hold periods by deposit and withdrawal method
The hold that applies depends on both how you deposited and how you are withdrawing:
Deposit method | Withdraw by ACH | Withdraw by wire |
ACH bank transfer | 5 calendar days from clearing date | 10 calendar days from clearing date |
Debit card | 5 calendar days from clearing date | 10 calendar days from clearing date |
Wire transfer | No hold — available after clearing | No hold — available after clearing |
Check | 5 calendar days from clearing date | 5 calendar days from clearing date |
Wire deposits have no withdrawal hold. If you need to withdraw quickly, deposit by wire — there is no hold period once the funds clear.
Trading gains have no withdrawal hold. Profit from winning trades can be withdrawn at any time. Hold periods apply only to deposited principal.
Why do withdrawal holds exist?
ACH transfers are not final until they settle between banks. During the hold period the originating bank can still reverse the transfer — for example, due to insufficient funds. Wire transfers are final and irrevocable, which is why they carry no withdrawal hold.
How do I find my hold expiration date?
The exact release date for each deposit is shown in your Transaction History:
Log in to your Account Dashboard.
Select Transfer Funds from the left navigation menu.
Click Transaction History.
Find your deposit transaction. The hold expiration date is listed there.
Frequently asked questions about Slay Markets withdrawal holds
Q: I can already trade with my deposit. Why can't I withdraw it?
A: Clearing for trading and clearing for withdrawal are separate milestones. ACH and debit card deposits clear for trading in 1 to 3 business days, and the 5-day withdrawal hold starts from that clearing date — not from when you initiated the deposit.
Q: I deposited by wire. Can I withdraw today?
A: Yes. Wire deposits have no withdrawal hold. Once your wire clears (same business day if received before the cutoff), you can withdraw at any time.
Q: I made $500 in profit today. Can I withdraw that?
A: Yes. Trading gains have no withdrawal hold and can be withdrawn at any time, regardless of how your account was funded.
Q: Why is my hold 10 days instead of 5?
A: A 10-calendar-day hold applies when you deposited by ACH or debit card and are withdrawing by wire transfer. Withdrawing by ACH instead reduces the hold to 5 calendar days from the clearing date.
Deposited funds are available for trading before they are available for withdrawal. ACH and debit card deposits carry a 5-day hold for an ACH withdrawal and a 10-day hold for a wire withdrawal, both running from the clearing date. Wire deposits and trading gains have no hold at all.
