At this time, the system is only set up to account for one user. You are able to be signed into one account from up to two different devices, but if two users are trying to use the account (e.g. collect data, write notes, test a student, etc.) at the same time, the account can get corrupted as the server doesn't recognize which data to store.
Additionally, SLP Toolkit accounts are specifically designed as individual accounts tied to unique email addresses, ensuring secure and independent access for each user. SLP-Assistants (SLPAs) and graduate students are two distinct user categories often impacted by this policy.
SLPAs and Account Usage
SLP Toolkit recommends that SLP-Assistants (SLPAs) create their own individual accounts to log in independently, take data, manage students, and generate reports. Although sharing an account with an SLP is technically possible, it risks data corruption if used simultaneously.
Some subscribers do share their account with an SLPA or graduate student; however, they are careful to coordinate that only one person is using the account at a time. Others opt to have those they supervise use paper data sheets, which can be found in the Reports tab under 'Data Collection Sheets'.
For teams requiring real-time collaboration, some users may find alternative platforms like Kit, which support shared workflows and separate accounts for SLPAs and supervisors, to be more suitable. This allows better coordination without the risk of data conflicts.
Risks of Simultaneous Usage
SLP Toolkit allows one account to log in from up to two devices, but simultaneous activity like data collection or assessments by multiple individuals can cause server conflicts, risking data loss. Proposed workarounds include using paper-based systems or alternatives like Kit.
If you share students with another SLP, there is not currently a way to sync data between two different accounts. Rather, each user would have their own digital file on the student. You can email data reports to those you collaborate with to get a better picture of how your student is performing.
Graduate students may consider signing up for an individual free trial of SLP Toolkit to familiarize themselves with the platform and practice without accessing the supervising SLP's caseload directly. This approach allows hands-on learning while maintaining data security.
NOTE: Our new product, Kit, will include a feature that allows you to share students with your IEP teammates who are also Kit users. 🤩 Click here to learn more.
