How to Lesson Plan

There are a few different ways to create lesson plans in SLP Toolkit, whether you want to grab a ready-made template, build something from scratch, or use our AI Lesson Planner. Letโ€™s dive in!

๐Ÿ“š Explore Ready-Made Lesson Plans

There are tons of literacy-based lesson plans available in the Plan tab, ready to use and easy to customize!

Check out this video for a quick walkthrough, or follow the steps below to find a lesson plan:

  1. Go to the Plan tab

  2. Select Add a New Plan

  3. Choose Choose from Template


๐Ÿ” Search by book title, tag, or topic. Once you find a plan you like, click the plan name & select Use this Plan.

โœจ The lesson plan will automatically open and be added to your Plan tab, where you can edit it to fit your needs.


โœ๏ธ Create a Lesson Plan from Scratch

Create your very own custom lesson plan from scratch by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Plan tab

  2. Select Add a New Plan

  3. Choose Create plan from scratch


From there, you can:

  • Name your plan

  • Break it into clear, manageable steps

  • Upload images ๐Ÿ“ธ

  • Add hyperlinks to PDFs or pictures from Google Drive for easy reference during sessions


๐Ÿค–โœจ Try the Custom GPT Lesson Planner

Toolkitโ€™s Custom GPT Lesson Planner makes creating personalized lesson plans fast and easy. Check out this video to see it in action or follow to step by step instructions below to get started:

  1. Click the AI Planner button

  2. Enter a few quick details, such as:

    1. Student age or grade level

    2. IEP goals or objectives

    3. Therapy setting (individual or small group)

    4. Session duration

    5. Themes or favorite activities

  3. Click Enter

Create a 30-minute small-group lesson plan focused on [target skillsโ€”like following 2-step directions, expressive language, or articulation] for students in [age or grade level]. Use a [theme] and include materials, step-by-step activities, and data-collection ideas that support IEP goals.

๐Ÿ“Š Review Historical Data

Easily review past sessions to help you track progress and guide future instruction in just a few simple steps:

  1. Click Review Historical Data on the right-hand side of the page

  2. Choose a date ๐Ÿ“…

  3. Select the session time

  4. Pick a time frame

  5. Click Generate Report

๐Ÿท๏ธ Stay Organized with Tags

Create customized tags (e.g. vocabulary, 2nd grade, antonyms) in the top right field in order to quickly filter and find lesson plans later on.

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ Add Lesson Plans to Session Events

Attach lesson plans directly to sessions from the Daily Data page so you can have everything you need all in one place! To do so:

  1. Select the 'Plan' button

  2. Click the + sign

  3. Navigate to the 'select plans' field & choose a lesson plan from the dropdown


โœ… The plan will be assigned to that session and appear under the Plan tab on the right during the event.
