Open space line of sight: 260ft
In real environments, RF transmission range depends heavily on the environment. Factors like metal, glass, framing, furniture, and other devices (WiFi routers, phones, TVs, microwaves) can reduce signal strength. At one extreme, devices oriented toward each other outdoors can communicate at 260ft+. At the other extreme, the right combination of obstacles can limit range to 20ft.
Installed in a home, range is typically somewhere in between and varies based on the specifics of each environment.
Best practice: Place sensors as close to the Hub as possible. Longer distances require more transmission power, which drains batteries faster and shortens the time between replacements.
