The Rebalancer & Cash: How They Interact

How the Rebalancer monitors cash drift in the Managed Portfolio Sleeve and what triggers a High Cash or Low Cash rebalance.

Overview

The Rebalancer monitors the Managed Portfolio Sleeve daily for cash drift. It is the tool that deploys excess cash into positions or raises cash when the sleeve is below target.

⚠️ Important
The Rebalancer only sees the Managed Portfolio Sleeve when evaluating cash. Funding Sleeve cash and Protected Sleeve cash are invisible to the Rebalancer. High cash in either of those sleeves will NOT trigger a High Cash rebalance flag.

Rebalancer Workflow (Cash Context)

  • Step 1: Rebalancer → Accounts to Rebalance — review High Cash or Low Cash accounts

  • Step 2: Select accounts, click Submit Request

  • Step 3: Rebalancer → Pending Approval — review proposed trades, tax impact, and trade logic

  • Step 4: Approve (orders go to trade desk) or Cancel (returns accounts to queue)

  • Step 5: Rebalancer → History — monitor execution status

⚠️ Rebalance batches not approved on the same day will expire overnight.

If a batch expires, recreate and resubmit.
