Understanding the SmoothPay interface

Overview of the main screens and how to navigate between them in SmoothPay.

SmoothPay operates entirely within a single web page with multiple screens for different functions.

Important navigation rule

Never use your browser's back or forward buttons - this will log you out of SmoothPay. Always use SmoothPay's built-in navigation menu.

Main screens

Staff screen

Manage employee records, personal details, contract settings, bank accounts, leave entitlements, superannuation settings, tax information, payment deductions and employment history.

Payrun screen

Process your regular payroll. This acts as a drafting area where you prepare, review and finalise each pay run.

Reports screen

Generate various categorised reports for staff, pays, tax, superannuation, KPIs and auditing.

Print screen

Access the complete history of all generated reports, including reports automatically created in the background.

Files screen

Download files produced for use externally, such as bank files or accounting files.

Settings screen

Adjust company-wide settings and defaults.

Codes screen

Configure pay codes, deduction codes, cost centres, agencies and superfunds.

Tools screen

Access utilities like health checks, restores, data imports and system backups.

Switching between companies

If you have multiple companies on your account, you can switch between them using the company selector, which is the 4 boxes at the very top left of the screen.

Switching screens

Use the navigation menu (blue bar) to move between different screens. Each screen is labelled clearly on the navigation bar. Do not, use the back/forward buttons in your web browser, this will log you out of the payroll.
