How to Enable the Chat and Community Feature

How to set up and use the features to communicate with ambassadors.

Introduction

  • Purpose: This article explains how to enable and use the chat and community feature to communicate with ambassadors directly in the SocialLadder Ambassador Dashboard.

  • Context: The Chat and Community Feature are only available if your SL Account is connected to an Ambassador Profile. If not, these features will be locked - see the screenshot below. 

    • The chat feature allows you, as a portal admin, to create individual or group chats with ambassadors.

    • The community features allow you to publish threads on public and private rooms and interact with ambassadors.

Note: If ambassadors report issues accessing the chat, please contact our support team.

Requirements

How to Link Admin User to Ambassador Account

To enable the chat feature for a portal admin, you need to link the ambassador account to your SL Admin User.

  1. Login to SL Admin Portal.

  2. Navigate to Settings > Account Settings > Manage Accounts.

  3. Find your portal admin account and click Edit.

  4. In the phone icon dropdown, select your ambassador account.

    1. This is the name ambassadors will see during chats. Learn how to update it on the How to Update your Ambassador Account Name section.


  5. Click Update to save your changes.

  6. Refresh the page to activate the chat feature.

  7. Start using the features.

    Once the chat feature is enabled:

    • Go to Community > Chat to access the chat interface.

    • You can now start conversations with ambassadors and respond to their inquiries.

How to Update your Ambassador Account

When interacting with you on Chat or Community, Ambassador will see your Ambassador Profile Name. See below how to update it:

  1. Access your Ambassador Program Dashboard.

  2. Log in with your Ambassador Account.

  3. Click on Settings.


  4. Click on the + Icon to upload a profile photo.


  5. Edit the First Name and Last Name fields.

  6. Click on Update Personal Info.


  7. Done! This is the information that will be displayed to the ambassadors as they chat with you, or interact on your threads.

Best Practices/Tips

  • Use a Professional Name: Use a clear and professional ambassador account name since it will be visible to ambassadors.

  • Manage Regularly: Check the chat and community regularly to respond promptly and maintain ambassador engagement. Quick responses improve their experience and satisfaction.

  • Redirect ambassadors to the dedicated SocialLadder Support Team when their issues require further assistance beyond the chat.
