How to Temporarily Stop Accepting New Orders from Your Online Menu

Learn how to pause new orders for a few minutes or even for the rest of the day.

Updated over 3 years ago

When things get super busy, you can temporarily stop accepting new orders until things calm down. You can pause new orders for 10, 15, 20, or 25 minutes or even for the rest of the day (until 12 midnight) and resume automatically when the pause duration ends.

Step 1 - Go to the online ordering menu.

Go to the Menus Dashboard and select the online ordering menu you want to temporarily pause.

Step 2 - Click the "Pause new orders" button.

When the online ordering menu is accepting orders, you'll see a green light that indicates that the menu is accepting orders.

Step 3 - Select a timeframe on how long you want to pause new orders.

You can select from the different time options, or select:

  • Rest of the day - accepting new orders resume after 12 am

  • Other - enter a custom time (minutes)

When new orders are paused, a countdown is displayed until the time ends. When it ends, the online menu will automatically resume accepting orders. You can also click the "Restart orders" button whenever you're ready to accept new orders.

What guests see

Guests will see a pop-up with the message, "Online ordering is temporarily paused." They will not be able to interact with the online ordering menu.
