Confirming Identity On Facebook

Verifying identity via Meta on mobile

Written by Robert Brusasca

When attempting to publish a post via SocioConnect (or directly on Facebook Desktop), you may occasionally encounter a security block with the following message:

Confirm your identity before you can publish as this Page. Open the Facebook app on your phone and follow the instructions.

This error is a standard Meta (Facebook) security prompt. It typically occurs when Meta detects unusual activity or when local Facebook Pages are created and managed by Headquarters (HQ) administrator accounts across different locations or devices.

🛑 Why This Happens

Meta periodically requires identity checks to ensure account security and prevent unauthorised access. When HQ manages local pages on behalf of local users, Meta’s system may flag the administrative access pattern as "unusual activity" and temporarily pause publishing rights until the managing user verifies their identity via a trusted mobile device.

How to Fix the Verification Error

Follow these steps on your mobile device to complete Meta's identity verification and restore posting functionality across Facebook and SocioConnect.

Prerequisites

  • You must use a mobile device with the official Facebook App installed.

  • You must be logged into the personal Facebook account that holds administrative rights for the affected page.

Step-by-Step Resolution Guide

Step 1 — Open the Facebook Mobile App

  1. Open the Facebook App on your mobile phone (do not use a desktop browser).

  2. Confirm you are logged into your admin profile.

Step 2 — Switch to the Local Page

3. Tap your Profile / Menu icon (bottom-right on iOS, top-right on Android).

4. Tap Switch Profile and select the local Facebook Page encountering the error.

Step 3 — Trigger and Complete Mobile Verification

5. Attempt to create a quick test post on the page using your phone.

6. Meta will display the Confirm your identity prompt, stating that unusual activity was detected.

7. Select Verify via SMS and tap Verify.

8. Enter the security code sent to your mobile phone number.

Step 4 — Resume Posting in SocioConnect

9. Once Meta verifies your identity on mobile, open SocioConnect on your desktop or app.

10. Refresh the page and publish your content. Publishing access will be fully restored.

If the error persists in SocioConnect after mobile verification, go to Account Settings in SocioConnect to briefly disconnect and reconnect your Facebook account to refresh your access token.
