Facebook Metrics Update – June & July 2026

Written by Robert Brusasca

Facebook has updated the way several content performance metrics are measured and reported. As part of this update, some legacy metrics have been replaced with new measurement methods. SocioLocal has updated its Facebook reporting to support these changes and ensure that the metrics available in your reports continue to provide meaningful and consistent performance insights.

This article explains what has changed and what you may notice in your SocioLocal reports.

What has changed?

The main changes relate to Reach and Impressions across Facebook Pages, Posts and Stories. Some of the metrics previously used to calculate Reach have been replaced with new metrics based on Total Unique Media Views. This means that the underlying methodology for some Facebook metrics has changed. The names and availability of some metrics in SocioLocal may therefore differ from what you have seen previously.

Does this affect my SocioLocal reporting?

Yes, some Facebook metrics have been updated. The standard Reach metric continues to be available, but it is now calculated using Facebook's updated measurement methodology. While other metrics continue to be available, paid and organic reach will no longer be reported due to the limitations of Facebook's updated reporting. However, to enable paid and organic performance tracking for our users, we are making this breakdown available for impressions. Therefore, we recommend using paid and organic impressions to measure campaign performance moving forward.

Will Facebook Reach still be available?

Yes. Facebook Reach remains available in SocioLocal.

The underlying measurement has been updated to use the new Total Unique Media Views methodology. As the calculation has changed, Reach figures from before and after the update may not be directly comparable on a like-for-like basis. This is particularly important when reviewing longer-term performance trends.

Will paid and organic Reach still be available?

With this recent update, the paid and organic breakdown of Reach on both post-level and page-level performance will no longer be available for reporting. Alternatively, we have made both paid and organic impressions available to measure campaign performance.

Will Facebook Impressions be affected?

Impressions continue to be reported in SocioLocal, although the underlying Facebook metric used to provide some Impression data has changed.

  • For Posts, the previous post_impressions metric has been replaced by post_media_view.

  • For Stories, the previous story_impressions metric has been replaced by story_media_view.

These updated metrics continue to provide visibility into the total number of times content was viewed.

Additionally, SocioLocal is now reporting the paid and organic breakdown of impressions for users to measure paid campaign performance.

Reports pulled from June-July 2026

Most customers will continue to see their Facebook metrics as normal. However, when reviewing data from June and July 2026, you may notice some gaps or differences in certain historical metrics.

Page-level reporting

Page-level data for 15–22 June 2026 has been restored using the updated metrics. This means that Page-level reports covering this period can be used for performance analysis.

Post-level reporting

Some Post-level metrics for 15–22 June 2026 are not available. For these metrics, the historical data required to recreate the original daily figures is not available. Where this applies, SocioLocal will not present an estimated figure as actual performance data. You may therefore see a gap or zero for some affected Post-level metrics during this period.

Post Reach

There is also a period where the updated Post Reach metric was not yet available in SocioLocal. Post-level Reach may therefore be affected between 22 June and 14 July 2026. From 14 July 2026 onwards, Post Reach is reported using the updated measurement.

Story reporting

Some Story-level metrics for 15–22 June 2026 are also unavailable. As with Post-level reporting, historical daily Story data cannot be recreated for this period.

Why might my Reach figures look different?

The updated Reach methodology is not a direct 1:1 replacement for the previous calculation. As a result, you may notice differences in Reach when comparing periods before and after the June 2026 update. When analysing performance over a longer period, we recommend considering the methodology change when interpreting changes in Reach.

What has SocioLocal done?

SocioLocal has updated its Facebook integration to use the new metrics and has restored the Page-level data that was available for the affected period.

We have also taken steps to ensure that historical data that cannot be reliably recovered is not presented as an inaccurate performance figure. Our aim is to ensure that the data shown in SocioLocal is as accurate and useful as possible, while clearly distinguishing between measured performance and periods where data is unavailable.

Do I need to do anything?

Since Meta has stopped reporting paid and organic reach starting the 15th, the recommended action is to adopt impressions for monitoring and reporting on the success of paid social media campaigns. No further action is required, as the underlying calculations have been implemented within SocioLocal automatically. If you use Facebook Reach or Impressions as part of your regular reporting, simply keep the June 2026 measurement update in mind when comparing performance across this period.

In summary

  • Facebook Reach remains available in SocioLocal using the updated measurement methodology.

  • As of 15th June, the organic and paid breakdown of both page-level and post-level reach will not be available for reporting for stories and posts.

  • As of 22nd June, SocioLocal will make the organic and paid breakdown of both page-level and post-level impressions for stories and posts available to report on the success of paid campaigns

  • Page-level data for 15–22 June 2026 has been restored.

  • Some Post and Story-level data for 15–22 June 2026 is unavailable.

  • Post Reach may be affected between 22 June and 14 July 2026.

  • Some Reach figures before and after June 2026 may not be directly comparable because the underlying calculation has changed.

  • The recommended action is to use paid and organic impressions to monitor the performance of your paid campaigns.

SocioLocal will continue to monitor changes to Facebook's reporting framework and update the platform as required to ensure your reporting remains accurate and useful.
