How To Duplicate a Master Template

Updated this week

🚨 You may need to refresh your browser for the update to take effect.

Duplicating a template plan is the fastest way to reuse your existing structure while making small adjustments. This is ideal when you want to keep the same tasks, layouts, and flow — but change things like modes, durations, or placements.

⚠️ You can only duplicate Master Templates.

Regular plans cannot be duplicated.

How to Duplicate a Master Template

  1. Go to the “Inactive” tab

This is where all your master templates are stored.

  2. Find the master template you want to duplicate

  3. Click the three dots (⋯) next to the plan

  4. Select “Duplicate”

  5. Name your new template plan

Give the duplicate a clear name to distinguish it from the original.

That’s it — your new master template is ready to go.

All tasks, settings, and modes from the original are fully copied.

You can now edit the duplicate freely without affecting the original.

How To Load A Template

Click on "Create Plan" to begin.

Name Your Plan

Enter a name for your plan.

This could be specific to an individual athlete or a group, depending on your needs.

Save the Plan As

  • New Plan

Choose Your Template

Select the desired template from your list of saved templates.

Customize the Plan

Edit the plan as necessary to tailor it to the specific needs of the athlete or athletes.

Assign the Plan

Once customization is complete, assign the plan to the athlete or athletes.

⚠️ Important

Soma automatically duplicates the most recent version of your master template every time you load it. This means you can edit freely without affecting the original.

However, users cannot be added directly to a master template. This is a safety measure — if users were connected, any edits to the master would instantly update all linked plans, potentially altering progress and data unintentionally.

To protect your structure:

  • Master templates are user-free by design. When loaded, Soma duplicates them so you can adjust without changing the original.

  • To edit a master template, go to “My Plans” → “Inactive” tab, find your template, and make changes there.

  • The next time you load it, your latest edits will be included.
