Soma's notifications feature is designed to keep you informed about your athletes' performance by alerting you when specific conditions are met during tasks. This article will guide you through the process of setting up and using these notifications effectively.

Setting Up Notification Parameters:

To start using Soma notifications, follow these steps to set up the parameters. There are two types of conditions you can apply: AND and OR. Let's explore each condition and how you can utilize them individually or in combination.

AND Condition:

The AND condition allows you to establish precise triggers before receiving notifications. For instance, consider the following example:

  • Reaction Time: More than 500ms

  • Variation: More than 30%

  • Accuracy: Less than 80%

With the AND condition, all criteria above must be met for the notification to trigger. This setup ensures accuracy in monitoring, making it a recommended choice for coaches to avoid excessive notifications.

OR Condition:

The OR condition offers a broader scope for your settings. Take a look at the following

example:

  • Reaction Time: More than 500ms

OR

  • Accuracy: Less than 80%

When any of these conditions are met, the notification will be triggered. This approach is useful when you're focusing on a few key parameters and need flexibility in your triggers.

Combined AND/OR Condition:

Combining precision and a fallback option, the combined condition provides an ideal balance.

For instance:

  • Reaction Time: More than 500ms

  • Variation: More than 30%

  • Accuracy: Less than 80%

OR

  • RPE: More than 8

With this setup, if the user meets the first three conditions or rates a task with an RPE (Rate of Perceived Exertion) above 8, indicating a heavy cognitive workload, the notification will be triggered.

Efficiency in Monitoring:

Notifications are designed to streamline the process of monitoring athletes' cognitive performance. By receiving alerts only when triggered, you can save time and efficiently manage your athletes' progress.

Suggested Notification Settings (Adjust as Needed):

For your convenience, we've provided suggested default settings to get you started:

  • Reaction Time: More than 600ms

  • Variation: More than 25%

  • Accuracy: Less than 90%

Feel free to adapt these settings to match the specific needs of your athletes and tasks.

Conclusion:

Soma notifications offer a valuable tool for coaches to stay updated on athletes' performance. By understanding and utilizing the AND, OR, and combined conditions effectively, you can fine-tune your notification system to provide the right balance of precision and flexibility in monitoring.
