The difference between topics and interest?

The Topics and the Interest sections are both part of the set of insights offered inside your SOPRISM dashboard.

  • The topics (aka. Macro-tags) allow you to categorize the thematic universes into large groups, and they are independent of each other.

  • The thematic universes (aka. Micro-tags) are formed by a combination of criteria (interest, behavior, etc.) and are linked together by macro-tags that use the same criteria.
For example, the thematic universe of climate and energy policies are linked to "Ecology" which is a macro tag and to "Sustainable energies" which is a criterion.

  • The interest section is all about criteria. These form the basis of a database made up of thousands of criteria that identify each behavior, brand and interest. The criteria come directly from Meta, and include different types:

    • Demographics: Reach people based on education, employment, household and lifestyle details. Note, some data is only available for the US.

    • Interest: Reach specific audiences by looking at their interests, activities, pages they have liked and closely related topics.

    • Behaviors: Reach people based on purchase behaviors or intents, device usage and more. Again, some behavior data is only available for US audiences.
