Facebook collects data on its users in a number of different ways, including the following:

  1. User-provided information: When users create a Facebook account, they are asked to provide personal information such as their name, email address, and date of birth. This information is used to create the user's profile, and it is also used for various other purposes, such as verifying the user's identity and for personalized content recommendations.

  2. User activity on Facebook: Facebook collects data on how users interact with the platform, including the pages and accounts they follow, the posts and comments they like or share, and the ads they click on. This information is used to provide users with a personalized experience on Facebook, and it is also used for targeted advertising.

  3. Information from third-party websites and apps: Facebook collects data on users from third-party websites and apps that use its services, such as the "Like" button and Facebook Login. This can include information such as the websites and apps that users visit, and the actions they take on these websites and apps.

  4. Information from partners: Facebook also collects data from partners, such as data brokers and other companies that provide information on users' interests and behaviors. This information is used to help Facebook better understand its users and to provide more personalized experiences and advertising.

Overall, Facebook collects a wide range of data on its users, both from the information that users provide directly and from their activities on the platform and on third-party websites and apps. This data is used to provide users with a personalized experience for advertising purpose via the advertising API to enable targeted advertising.

👉 Soprism uses the advertising API offered by Meta to generate the insights available in the platform.

What about the criteria mobilized by Soprism?

As mentioned above, Meta's algorithms determine the interests available for potential ads. These same interests are used in Soprism's audience definition and reporting attributes. These interests number in the millions and fall into three main categories:

  • Interests (brands, passions, personalities, food types, music genres, events, etc.),

  • Behaviors (device ownership, types of travelers, etc.)

  • and Socio-economic data (demographic details and income brackets, specifically available for the USA and enriched by third-party sources).

🫶 From these 3 categories and out of millions of interest criteria, Soprism has selected just over 7,000 criteria that are the most relevant to cover the main use cases, and that provide a precise understanding of audiences. These criteria are continually enriched and updated by our teams. 👉 If you would like to add a particular criterion to your insights after profiling, please contact your account manager or our team, and we will make the necessary arrangements.

On top of those interests, we have build around 500 topics and more than 100 mindsets (by the advanced combination of those interests).
