Understanding ATS (Against the Spread) Picks in NCAAB Contests πŸ€πŸ“

Updated over 2 months ago

We’re happy to help clarify how Against the Spread (ATS) picks work in NCAAB contests.

Understanding contest rules is crucial for successful participation and interpreting results in Splash's men's basketball tournament. Success hinges not only on selecting winning teams but also on complying with contest rules, such as ensuring timely and complete entries.

🧠 Quick Reminder on ATS Picks:

  • When making an ATS pick, your selected team must cover the spread in order for your pick to count as correct.

  • If the team wins the game but does not cover the spread, it is still considered a loss in the contest standings.

  • A team must not only win but also do so by a margin greater than the spread to meet the ATS pick criteria and count as a correct pick.

πŸ“Š Leaderboard & Picks:

If you notice any confusion on the leaderboard or your pick results, it may be due to a spread not being covered. Always double-check the spread listed when making your selections to ensure you’re making informed choices. Always verify the spread conditions as ATS picks require the chosen team to cover the specific spread to be considered correct. If the team fails to do so, the result will be logged as a loss, even if the team wins the game outright.

If you are unable to make a new selection in contests like CBB free entry, it may be because you have already selected all the available teams. Always check your previous picks to confirm the teams you have already chosen.

Some tournament days require participants to make two team selections instead of one (known as Double Pick Days). For example, on days like Day 7 and Day 8, both selections must be submitted before the deadline to avoid elimination, no matter the winning outcomes of prior picks. Further, submitting both team selections on double pick days before the deadline is critical to maintaining active entries. In contests, the pick deadline is firmly set to the start time of the first game of the day. Missing this deadline results in elimination, so ensure all picks are submitted before the first game starts.

Participants may occasionally experience issues with entry visibility or discrepancies in remaining entry counts. Often, this is due to incomplete or missed entries, particularly on Double Pick Days. To minimize confusion, always confirm submitted picks before their deadlines to ensure accuracy and participation. If the teams you intend to pick are not showing up, this may be due to delayed updates on the platform. Refreshing or revisiting the platform later usually resolves these issues, as games are typically added well ahead of their scheduled time.
