Best Practices for Sending Contest Invites

Getting members into your contest smoothly starts with how you send the invite. Follow these best practices to avoid common issues and make the joining experience easy for everyone.

✅ Always Use the Invite Link from Invite Manager

The only reliable way to get members directly into your contest is to use the invite link found in Commissioner Tab → Manage → Invite Manager. Avoid sharing your profile page URL or the general site URL — these won't bring members to the correct join page.

✅ Check Permissions Before Sharing

Before sending your invite link, confirm the permission level is set appropriately. For most contests, members should have View / Participate Only access so they can make picks without being able to alter contest settings.

✅ Send the Invite Link Directly — Don't Forward Old Emails

If you've previously reset your invite link, any older links will no longer work. Always copy a fresh link directly from Invite Manager when sending a new batch of invites.

✅ Include Clear Instructions With Your Invite

When sharing the link, give your members a heads-up about what to expect. A simple message like the one below works well:

"Click the link below to join our contest! You'll be asked to log in or create a free account. Once you're in, you can start making your picks right away."

✅ Set a Deadline and Communicate It

Let members know when the contest locks so they don't miss out. Include the entry deadline in your invite message and send a reminder a day or two before it closes.

✅ Consider Resetting Your Link After the Contest Fills

If your contest has a maximum number of entries and it's now full, reset your invite link in Invite Manager to prevent any new signups. This keeps things clean and avoids having to turn people away manually.

✅ Test the Link Yourself First

Before sending it out to a large group, open the invite link in an incognito window to confirm it takes you to the correct contest join page — not your profile or a generic page.
