If you need to cancel a contest — whether due to a settings mistake, not enough entries, or any other reason — here's how to do it depending on whether participants have already joined.
Cancelling When No One Has Entered
This is the simplest case. If your contest has no entries yet:
Go to the Commissioner tab
Find your contest and tap the three dots (…) next to the Invite button
Select Cancel Contest
Confirm the cancellation
The contest will be removed immediately.
Cancelling When Entries Have Been Submitted
If participants have already paid to enter a real-money contest, you'll need to get them to withdraw their entries first before you can cancel.
Contact your entrants and ask them to withdraw. Each participant can withdraw by going to My Contests → Active, selecting the contest, tapping the three dots (…) menu, and choosing Withdraw. Their entry fee is automatically refunded to their Splash wallet.
Once all entries have been withdrawn, cancel the contest using the steps above (three dots → Cancel Contest)
⚠️ You cannot force-cancel a contest that has paid entries — participants must withdraw themselves. If you're having difficulty getting all entrants to withdraw, email support@splashsports.com for assistance.
Cancelling a Private Contest
For Private (Self-managed) contests where you handle fees yourself or use the Contest Vault, the contest can be cancelled at any point. If your contest collected entry fees through the Contest Vault, entrants will be automatically refunded when you cancel the contest.
To cancel a self-managed contest, follow these steps:
Navigate to the contest
Go to General under Contest Settings
Scroll to the bottom, and click the red Cancel Contest button
Common Questions
Can I cancel a contest after it has started? Paid contests cannot be cancelled after they are started. Private contests can be cancelled at any time. If you have questions before cancelling an In-Progress contest, contact support@splashsports.com and we'll review the situation with you.
I accidentally created a duplicate contest. How do I remove it? Follow the cancellation steps above.
What happens to my invite link after cancellation? The invite link becomes inactive. Anyone clicking it will see that the contest is no longer available.
