How to Remove or Manage Entrants in a Self-Managed Contest

How commissioners can pause or remove entrants in a self-managed contest on Splash Sports — what each action does and what's available for real-money contests.

As a commissioner of a self-managed contest, you can pause or remove entrants from your contest. These tools are not available for real-money contests where Splash handles entry fees — in those contests, only the participant can withdraw their own entry.

Contests on Splash are private by default, ensuring that only invited members can join your contest.

How to Access Member Management

  1. Go to the Commissioner tab

  2. Open your contest → Commissioner ConsoleMember Management

  3. Click Edit next to the member you want to manage

⚠️ These actions are only available on the website — they are not supported in the Splash mobile app.

Game Inclusion/Exclusion Settings

Customizing Weekly Picksheets

During the contest creation process, you can customize your weekly picksheets by selecting which games to include or exclude. Use the "Exclude Individual Games" setting to manage game selection.

Including or Excluding Specific Games

  1. Go to the Commissioner tab and open the Active tab.

  2. Select Manage on your contest and open Settings.

  3. Adjust the "Exclude Games" or "Exclude Early Games" options as needed.

Including Early Games (e.g., Thursday/Friday Games)

  • Ensure the "Exclude Individual Games" option is turned off during contest setup to include early games.

  • If no entries have been made, you can cancel and recreate the contest with the correct settings.

What You Can Do

  • Add notes — record notes about an entrant visible only to you

  • Pause an entry — a paused entry cannot make picks or new entries until reinstated. If a paused entry remains past the pick deadline, it will be eliminated automatically

  • Remove / Boot — permanently removes the entry and prevents that entrant from re-entering. This cannot be undone

Additionally, you can use the Freeze option to prevent participants from making picks without removing them entirely. Entrant information can also be downloaded by clicking Download.

Editability Rules and Limitations

  • Before Entries Are Made: All settings, including game inclusion/exclusion, are editable.

  • After Entries Are Made (Before Contest Start): Settings are no longer editable.

  • After Contest Start: Settings cannot be changed.

  • Self-Managed Contests: Follow the same edibility rules as paid contests.

What About Real-Money Contests?

If your entrants paid an entry fee through Splash, you cannot remove them as a commissioner. Only the participant can withdraw their own entry. If there's an issue with a specific entrant in a real-money contest, contact support@splashsports.com and our team will review the situation.

Entry Visibility

Once the contest starts, all entry names and their picks are visible to all participants — including any renamed entries.
