Contest Chat — How to Enable & Use It

How to enable and use the contest chat feature on Splash Sports — availability, setup steps, what commissioners and members can do, and common questions.

Splash Sports includes a built-in chat feature that lets commissioners and participants communicate directly within a contest. Here's how to enable it and what to expect.


Availability

Contest chat is currently only available in the Splash Sports mobile app (iOS and Android). It is not available on the web version of Splash Sports. If you or your members can't find the chat, make sure everyone is using the app rather than the website.


How to Enable Chat in Your Contest

  1. Open the Splash Sports app on your mobile device

  2. Go to the Commissioner tabActiveManage on your contest

  3. Go to Settings

  4. Toggle Chat on

Once enabled, all participants in the contest will be able to see and use the chat from within the contest view.


Using Chat as a Commissioner

As commissioner, you can:

  • Post announcements, reminders, and updates to all participants

  • Engage in group conversation with your pool members

  • Toggle chat off at any time if you want to disable it

Chat messages are visible to all participants in the contest — there is no private or direct messaging within a contest chat.


What Members See

When chat is enabled, participants can access it from within the contest view in the app. They'll see a chat icon or tab that opens the group conversation thread. Members receive push notifications for new messages if they have notifications enabled.


Common Questions

Can I use chat on the website? No — chat is currently app-only. Web support is not yet available.

Can I message individual members privately? No — contest chat is a group thread visible to all participants. For individual outreach, use the Invites Manager to download member emails and contact them directly.

My members can't find the chat. Make sure they're in the Splash app (not the website) and that chat is toggled on in your contest settings. If it's enabled but still not showing, ask them to update to the latest version of the app.

Can I delete chat messages? Commissioners cannot delete individual chat messages at this time. If there's a specific moderation issue, email support@splashsports.com.
