Linking your Visa or Mastercard to SQUID lets you earn Wave Points automatically every time you shop with a participating partner - no tapping, scanning, or extra steps at the till! 💳
🔗 How it works
Once your card is linked, Wave Points are awarded automatically whenever you use that card at a business marked with the green Linked Card badge — whether that's in-store or online.
You don't need to open the app, tap your phone, or show anything at checkout.
Points are credited based on your transaction once it's confirmed, and the exact rate (e.g. "4 Wave Points per €1") is shown on each partner's listing.
To see which places you can earn points at with your linked card, go to Earn Points in the app, then check View Nearby Offers (in-store) or Online Offers (online) - partners marked with the green Linked Card icon are the ones where your linked card will earn you points.
📱 How to link your card
Open the SQUID app and go to the Wave Points page
Select Cards
Select Add a Credit/Debit Card
Enter your Visa or Mastercard details
Confirm to complete the link
Once linked, your card is ready to start earning Wave Points on your next eligible purchase.
🔒 Is it safe to link my card?
Yes — here's what you should know:
SQUID never sees your full card number. Linking is handled directly through Visa and Mastercard's own secure networks.
SQUID only detects that a transaction happened at a partner business - never what you bought.
You can unlink your card at any time from inside the SQUID app.
🔓 How to unlink your card
If you no longer want to earn Wave Points with a linked card, you can unlink it at any time:
Open the SQUID app and go to the Wave Points page
Select Cards
Click the x icon next to the card you want to remove
Select Remove Card
Once unlinked, that card will no longer earn Wave Points on future purchases. Any points you've already earned stay in your balance.
🔧 Troubleshooting
Make sure your card is a Visa or Mastercard - other card types aren't currently supported.
Points are only awarded at businesses marked with the green Linked Card badge, so double-check the partner is eligible under View Nearby Offers or Online Offers.
If you've made a purchase and your points haven't appeared, they may take a short time to process - see [link to article on points not showing] for more.
